About SOAR

SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) is designed to increase access to Social Security disability income benefits for eligible adults who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and have a serious mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.

SOAR has been implemented in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. SOAR-trained case managers have an application approval rate of approximately 65–70%, compared to the national average of 28% for initial applications.
